TORSIONAL SHEAR STRESS IN PRISMATIC BEAMS WITH ARBITRARY CROSS-SECTIONS USING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD

نویسندگان

چکیده

Determining the shear stress of a structural element caused by torsion is vital problem. The analytical solution Saint-Venant only suitable for simple cross-sections. numerical method to evaluate complicated cross-sections indispensable. Many methods have been studied scientists. Among these studies, Gruttmann proposed an excellent method, which inherited theory. However, use isoparametric four-noded quadrilateral elements made not reach best optimization. objective this paper improve Gruttmann‘s using eight-noded elements. MATLAB language programming method. validated examples demonstrated that author’s more effective than

Analysis of Thin-Walled Steel Sections Filled with Concrete Using Non-Linear Finite Element Method

Being economical and performing well under cyclic loads, steel sections filled with concrete have been widely used in structural buildings. Extensive studies and experiments have been conducted to investigate the influence of different parameters and loadings on the behavior of these structural components. Based on the data available from previous experiments and studies, this paper discusses t...

Finite Element Instability Analysis of the Steel Joist of Continuous Composite Beams with Flexible Shear Connectors

Composite steel/concrete beams may buckle in hogging bending regions. As the top flange of I-beam in that arrangement is restricted from any translational deformation and twist, the web will distort during buckling presenting a phenomenon often described as restricted distortional buckling. There are limited studies available in the literature of restricted distortional buckling of composite st...

Evaluation of Ultimate Torsional Strength of Reinforcement Concrete Beams Using Finite Element Analysis and Artificial Neural Network

Due to lack of theory of elasticity, estimation of ultimate torsional strength of reinforcement concrete beams is a difficult task. Therefore, the finite element methods could be applied for determination of strength of concrete beams. Furthermore, for complicated, highly nonlinear and ambiguous status, artificial neural networks are appropriate tools for prediction of behavior of such states. ...

Correcting the stress-strain curve in hot compression test using finite element analysis and Taguchi method

In the hot compression test friction has a detrimental influence on the flow stress through the process and therefore, correcting the deformation curve for real behavior is very important for both researchers and engineers. In this study, a series of compression tests were simulated using Abaqus software. In this study, it has been employed the Taguchi method to design experiments by the factor...
